  10. ProPoser is the data manager for all your records. 
  11. It is an object-oriented data manager having a universal data-entry 
  12. screen for entering unlimited user-definable and free-form records 
  13. with unlimited user-definable and variable-length fields, providing 
  14. a flexible database for storing alphanumeric records.
  15. Keep personal data, records about contacts, customers, partners, 
  16. employees, friends, family, etc., with unlimited fields for phone, 
  17. fax, e-mail, URL and any other data category.
  18. Keep inventory for products, parts, books, CDs, recipes, any item.
  19. Keep serial numbers, services, insurance, expiration dates and any 
  20. relevant data about your house, car, computer or other goods.
  21. Keep tasks, events, anniversaries, ideas, notes and miscellaneous data,

  31. relations, categories, property or any relation between people, 
  32. entities, events, things, without restrictions. Link your personal 
  33. record with contact's records, your computer's record with the 
  34. dealer's record, with the service's record. Link teachers with classes, 
  35. news with sources, ideas with authors, any record with any records. 
  36. Your database will express all the real and useful relations that you 
  37. need remember.

  43. Being a true implementation of Propositional Data Model (PDModel), 
  44. the Artificial Memory method for organizing data, ProPoser have a 
  45. built-in Database ready from the first moment to contain all the 
  46. records and links added by you. All the internal data management is 
  47. transparent for you. You don't need create, modify, manage or name 
  48. files. 
  49. Any record is found simply typing on keyboard one of its fields.

  71. Running ProPoser
  72. Unzip the PROPOXXX.ZIP file.
  73. Copy all the files from the diskette to a directory on your hard disk. 
  74. Execute ProPoser from Windows.
  75. After any seconds you will get the first screen. 
  76. This screen is a View of a Help Record. 
  77. From here you can access all the software topics, including a Tutor.

  82. PROPOSER TUTORIAL.

  84. Welcome to ProPoser!                                        
  85. ProPoser is ready from the first moment to enter any type of 
  86. data. Anything you can describe with words and/or numbers 
  87. has place in the Database of ProPoser. The true limit is 
  88. your need or pleasure of collecting information and...the 
  89. size of your disk. Don't worry about the way to organize and 
  90. ingress your information because you can modify its 
  91. structure in the future in any way you want. Take only three 
  92. minutes to learn entering, viewing and editing data.

  95. Now, make your own Record with your name. Follow these steps
  96. 1) Press the New Record button. ( You will get a white box )
  97. 2) Write the words FIRST NAME and press Enter                
  98. 3) Write your first name on the new box (For example, John)  
  99. 4) Press together Control and Enter keys                     
  100. 5) As you don't ingress more data, Press Enter again to 
  101.    finish the action.

  104. You got your own Record for your personal data. In the same 
  105. way, you will can make records about people, entities, 
  106. objects, events or any type of things.

  109. Now you will learn establishing Links between Records. 
  110. Ingress on your record the link with your mother. Follow the 
  111. next steps.                                                 
  112. 1) Press Add Data button                                    
  113. 2) On the box, write the word MOTHER and press Enter        
  114. 3) On the new box write : (a colon) plus the name of your    
  115.    mother (For example, :Julia)                             
  116. 4) Press Control+Enter                                       
  117. 5) Press Enter to finish the action.

  120. The program created a Record with the name of your mother. 
  121. From now, you can link any record with this one writing the 
  122. nature of the link on column 1 and :Julia (for example) on 
  123. column 2.

  126. The : sign (a colon) is the Symbol of Link. As you make a 
  127. link you must put a colon : before the attribute of the 
  128. record you want link.                                       
  129. REMEMBER THIS! To secure a good link, you must use an 
  130. exclusive attribute of the linked record and this attribute 
  131. must be written with care, including every present 
  132. orthographic sign. Otherwise, if the attribute is not 
  133. exclusive, the relationship may be established with other 
  134. record with the same attribute or if the attribute is 
  135. misspelled and not exist any record with such attribute, 
  136. ProPoser will create by default a new record and will 
  137. establish the link with this new record.

  140. Now, try editing a Record.                                  
  141. When you established the link with your mother, ProPoser 
  142. searched for a record having an attribute like the name of 
  143. your mother to record as data that link. As this record was 
  144. not found, ProPoser created automatically other record, and 
  145. assigned to it, as its unique attribute, the name written 
  146. for you. ProPoser, not understanding this word is a name, 
  147. defined that attribute as an...ATTRIBUTE. Now, we can 
  148. correct this inaccuracy editing the attribute. Follow the 
  149. next steps.                                                 
  150. 1) To retrieve the record of your mother write on screen her
  151.    name and press Enter.

  154. 1) Click on the word Attribute                              
  155. 2) Press the Edit button                                    
  156. 3) Replace the word by the words FIRST NAME and press Enter.

  159. Now, add a new attribute to your mother. Follow these steps.
  160. 1) Press Add Data button                                    
  161. 2) Write the words LAST NAME and press Enter                
  162. 3) Write the last name of your mother                       
  163. 4) Press Control+Enter

  167. Now, let's see a List of Records. What is a List? A List is 
  168. the set of all the records having a common characteristic. 
  169. View in your database the list of all of the records with 
  170. FIRST NAME. Follow the next steps.                          
  171. 1) Write the words FIRST NAME and press Enter (To call the  
  172.    first record with first name)                            
  173. 2) Press List Records button.

  176. If Status line indicates "Listing Records with FIRST NAME", 
  177. we can see all the records with first name in form of list, 
  178. each on a different line, showing on first column the 
  179. attribute for the List and on second column other attribute, 
  180. if any, allowing us to individualize the record. From a list 
  181. you can call any displayed record simply double clicking it.
  182. 1) Double click on the record of your mother.

  185. The Status line indicates "Viewing a Record" and the current 
  186. record is the one of your mother. You can get the list of 
  187. the records linking the current record. Get the list of all 
  188. the records having a link with your mother with one step.   
  189. 1) Press List Links button.
